The Zen of Irish Pubs in Japan
Haiku You

Zone out with a drink
Pioneering Irish zen
Drunk enlightenment

Irish zen issues
I'm the Yin and beer's the yang
Music plays, beer flows

Smoky atmosphere
Following Irish zen rules
Beer, music guide you

Subconscious drifting
Beer in hand, the mind wanders
The pub's a channel

Just add good music
Nicotine and alcohol
Reach a heightened state

Stuffy, smoky air
Pulsing rock and Celtic beats
Guinness nirvana

Coasters and ashtrays
Dark, natural wood counter
Commune with the bar

Pull the reins on time
Breathing slows; the heart-rate drops
Mantra: more Guinness

In ashtrays, reposed
The thin smoke column blossoms
Crossing the nic' bridge

Infinite outcomes
Myriad permutations
What was I saying?

Draught-issued nectars
Choose your poison: beer, or... beer?
Pints of paradise

A tri-lobe'd plant
The Shamrock bids us welcome
Kichijoji hike

A tulip-shaped pint
Glass after glass go down quick
It understands me

Now, for a few haiku based on a force-fed squid challenge:

Being force-fed squid
Not just any squid; raw squid
It was a 'challenge'

It took a whole pint
Trying to erase the squid
Funky aftertaste

Squishy, chewy squid
Too bad it wasn't fried up
Chewing for so long

Should've swallowed it
No, it's not what your mom said
That's chew-rific squid!

Cereal-bowl's worth
Some innocous brown sauce
Those dicks lied to me

Poised in my chopsticks
What do I get out of it?
The squid dangles there
