September 2001
"
everything is new."

I am excited because it is September 2001! Why am I so excited?
Let me tell you.
1. Tenacious D is releasing and album AND touring the USA. Kick-Ass.
You MUST go to www.tenaciousd.com
AND www.tenaciousd.net for
sounds, pics and all that is satanic and powerful about the D. Go
now!
2. Stereolab has just released their latest work, "Sound Dust".
Over the past decade, Stereolab has become better and better. They
like to walk a fine line between cutting edge electronic sound and
lame French Pop music. That is very difficult, and many have failed,
but Stereolab has never sounded lame, just French, but a good kind
of French - not the bad kind.
You should all check out their website, www.stereolab.co.uk
for all the latest news and sounds. You can hear teasers for all
the songs on the new album. This month is going to sound fantastic!
3. Both Stereolab and Tencious D are coming to the USA this fall!
For those in the DC metro area, we are luck enough to find them
both in one wonderful place, the 9:30 Club. The D are coming on
October 13th and Stereolab is coming, one month later, on November
13th.
Ticketmaster has agreed to help everyone who is interested in getting
tickets to get tickets. They are so nice.
4. I was surfing around the Astralwerks
web site last month and I found a great band, the Kings of Convenience.
They are from Norway, of all places, and their album, "Quiet
is the New Loud" is great. Unlike the majority of the groups
on the Astralwerks label, the Kings are now electronic. They are
just a couple of guys with guitars who sound good together.
This is one album on which Bigfoot and I can agree. I strongly
urge you to buy this album. While it is not new, released in Norway
earlier this year, it is going to sound fresh and vibrant for years
to come.
Again, I urge you to do yourself a favor and buy this record.
In closing, my friends, I am happy to be alive. Music is making
me happy. My wife makes me happy, too. And, while you cannot buy
my wife in a store, you can certainly buy Stereolab, Tenacious D,
and the Kings of Convenience. Go now!
