Summer 2004

Currently in Heavy Rotation

I listen to more music these days than in the recent past because I walk about 40 minutes to work each way every day, and I've also got that pesky round-trip train ride. My new disc-mans' been getting one heck of a work-out. Thankfully, I got me some rechargeable batteries, which should keep me from buying new batteries for a long, long time.

While I have tons of new CD's, only a few have been in heavy rotation for he past couple of months.

Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
I love this damn album. Rain or shine, I feel happy when this one is spinning. When the end days are here, I'm gonna pick up a rifle and fight with these guys. I'll kill everyone.

Pulp - Different Class
I wish I'd heard this when it came out. While Kurt and his ilk whined about feeling left out, Jarvis Cocker sang about balling married chicks.

New Order - Power, Corruption & Lies
It rains a lot here in NJ for some reason. It's always raining.

Ikara Colt - Chat and Business
I have no idea what these guys are saying, but I don't care.

The Polyphonic Spree - Together We're Heavy
I love you. I love the Sun. I love to hug you. I am not embarrassed. There will be no 'end days.' One day, we'll all realize that we love each other, and in the warming penumbra of joy and elation, nothing will matter. Then, in one giant crescendo, the world will be born again.

Joy Division - Substance
Since I popped a hernia early this month, the walks have been less than enjoyable (Don't worry, I've seen a doctor. I'll get cut in due time.) I need music that makes me feel frightfully miserable.

The Postal Service - Give Up
If Steely Dan and the Pet Shop Boys had a baby.

BONUS:
My go-to album for Evil Robots publishing is:

The Fantastic Plastic Machine The Fantastic Plastic Machine by…

Since 1995 or 1996, my go-to album for writing anything was "Alive in America" by Steely Dan. I loved to that baby on infinite repeat. The songs are so comforting and familiar to me that they are not a distraction (accept for "Book of Liars", which can mess with my concentration) to the process. However, FPM manages to wrestle "Alive" from the top spot. I bathe my brain in the smooth sounds, and just keep on typing. I suggest you give it a try. It's dreamy.
