Observations in Charm City

On Thursday, August 22nd, I attended a Baltimore Orioles game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The game was exciting! Each pitcher tossed a no-no for five innings, and both no-no's were busted up by a home run. The O's won the game, 3-2, in eleven innings on a walk-off single by Tony Batista.

"Why is that worth mentioning?", you ask.

One reason: I saw a guy doing "The Robot" at Camden Yards in the bottom of the 11th inning! It was totally awesome!

With the score tied 2-2, and one out in the inning, Jerry Hairston was at bat. In the middle of his at-bat, a guy climbed out of the stands and walked to second base. I did not see where he came from, I did not notice him until he was at second base.

He stood motionless for a few moments, then he raised his arms. With stiffened arms and astounding precision, he began to dance "The Robot." The PA system played nothing, he danced alone to a sing in his head.

I cheered! I clapped! I cheered some more! That moron was living my dream!

He danced for nearly ten seconds, then stopped. He walked towards an approaching police officer and was arrested. As he was walked off the field, the fans gave him a well deserved standing ovation.

The O's went on to win the game, but that guy had already won my heart!
