I'm Gonna Use My TeeVee as a Paperweight, How
'Bout You?

Grandpa recently reminded me that this week (April 22 to 28) is
TV Turn Off Week. (see www.adbusters.org/campaigns/tvturnoff)
It's a holiday we don't often celebrate, but frankly it's about
time. I've seen all the Law & Order episodes at least three
times, and I channel-hop so much that I really can't respect myself
in the morning. The TeeVee is sucking out my brain.
Now here comes the challenge
what on earth can Grandpa and
I do without watching TeeVee?? Start trying to write well for Evil
Robots, you say? Thanks for the vote of confidence, nimrod! But
I guess writing more could be good since the quality of our published
work is beyond reproach. We can really do anything we want except
sit around watching Dexter's Lab (fortunately I have a small Dexterbot
to help satisfy that urge). I might celebrate by strolling leisurely
around town, playing a kick ass Lego board game, reading Harold
and the Purple Crayon, building a super-city out of empty cardboard
boxes, or even interviewing the Hamburgler about his past escapades.
The sky's the limit!
TeeVee Turn Off Week may sound scary, but if you use the TeeVee
as an easel to display your drawings you may even forget it's off.
I think Grandpa & I will satisfy our lazy lounging desires just
fine. And with no TeeVee we'll have more time to listen to our Russell
Gunn CDs and really kick back
ethnomusicology style.
