"Metal Life" Directed by Gene Rosikowski and starring
John Cusack
"Metal Life" is almost an art flick, but for the animated
dream sequences and strip club shots in the opening credits. In
this film, Cusack takes a calculated risk with his repeated use
of the word 'nigger' when he refers to his cyborg counterparts.
Contrary to what one might think, he pulls it off quite well - for
a white actor. He is believable, and rather loveable. Many people
missed it's initial release because it did not give advance showings
to reviewers nor did it appear at any film festivals. But be certain,
when history finds this movie, it will sure as hell like it!
The soundtrack, produced by the lovable Bay-area spinster, DJ Santorum,
mixes classic 70's funk with modern jiggy sounds to create a clear
picture of the inside of a cyborg's head.
If you missed it at the theatre, you should be able to find this
movie at your local video store on VHS and DVD in late February.
