Third Anniversary Special/2002

Grandpa On TV
On The Tube

We are our own demographic!

People who know me know that I watch the Fox Network. Fox (not including, but not totally excluding Fox 'News' Channel) provides the best programming on Tee-Vee. All other networks are for losers. Period. But apparently, losers are not only in the majority, but they also make much more money than I do.

(I should say that I make less than $75,000 a year. Actually, the wife and I make less than $75,000 combined. We don't mind, really. Don't worry, we're fine. We live well and I NEVER go hungry. I can also drop stupid fresh rants on my own web site. That's good enough for me.)

Back to the point of this article: In the May 20th edition of the Wall Street Journal, Joe Flint reported that Fox has the lowest average number of prime time TV (of all four networks) viewers, age 18-49, who make at least $75,000 per year. The article highlights that while NBC does not have the highest rated shows in every time slot, they can charge more for 30-second commercials because their viewers are more affluent. What's more, NBC has over two times the "affluent" viewers than Fox.

Sure, Fox does not have shows like "Law & Order" or "The West Wing" that make people happy, but I like that. This story affirms my belief that Fox IS speaking to me.

Who needs "Scrubbs"? Not me! I got "Greg the Bunny"!

How about "Fear Factor"? Hell no! I want "Temptation Island"!

You got the "Cosby" reunion? Is that all? I'll watch "Celebrity Boxing"!

After reading that article, I feel better about myself and my favorite network.

Hey Fox! Keep up the good work!

You should all be watching "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" and "Home Movies" on Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim." But be very careful not to watch "Baby Blues." As I have said before, it sucks. But "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" is by far the best fifteen minutes in Tee-Vee today. Meatwad is the greatest cartoon character ever.

HBO recently showed "Memoriam: 9-11-01". It was a very touching documentary about the attacks on New York. The best TV about the tragedy yet, maybe ever.

GOOD NEWS! "Off Centre" was picked up by the WB for another season! Sometime, good shows stay on the air after all. Too bad "Undeclared" was not so lucky.

What to watch this month:

NO CONTEST: The World Cup of Soccer. Seriously, you should get up real damn early to watch a game. You may enjoy it (odds are pretty good) and you will enjoy the game with millions of people around the world at the same time. But if you are a jerk and will only watch one game, watch the final game. You will be part of a HUGE world-wide TV audience. It's damn cool and it only happens every four years.

P.S. - Watch on a Spanish language channel or with the SAP feature on your TV. You will thank me later.
