Grandpa On TV

On The Tube

I was right. The Major League Playoffs were fantastic! That is, on radio they were fantastic. Damn! Can you please help me understand why television broadcasters are all morons! Well, those not on ESPN. I am sitting here at the computer wondering why the TV is doing this to me year after year. I wonder if the quality of announcer goes down in the same ratio as the pitchers ERA goes up? That is a question for Costas and Morgan to figure out with Buck and Lyons. (Don’t get me wrong, I love Bob Costas. But he refuses to tell Joe Morgan to shut up on national television. He should, you know.)

And who told Keith Olberman he should be on TV?

The Fox Network has many pluses. That 70’s Show, Malcolm in the Middle, Futurama and The Simpsons are the best funny shows on TV today. I cannot get enough of those shows. Fox need to put them together on one night for me. That is all I ask. Man, that would be great.

Fox’News’ Channel is still the place for Election 2000 coverage. I think they have the right idea. Mr. Factor is in full swing now that his book is out. In fact, while Godzilla is no longer a fan of Mr. Factor, I love him more. I long for the week when Bill beats Larry five days in a row. That will be a day to remember. Fox can claim to be fair, but until they beat the King of C’N’N, they are small fries.

I agree with a columnists remark that The West Wing is smut for liberals. Ooh, raise those taxes…gimme some debt relief…slap some medicare up in that…save the spotted owl….and so on and so forth. Enough of the American public has embraced this show because TV liberals cost them nothing. Real liberals are expensive (this is an argument for another time. You know, rights of the individual vs. the responsibilities of the polity…) The general tone of the nation this year also contributes to the love and devotion to the show. I think this show has more to gain from the election of a Republican than it does from a ‘New’ Democrat.

Fox (this network is my obsession now that SportsNight is off the air) should take their conservative approach and make some dramas and sit-coms in that theme. Why can’t we watch a show with a likeable Republican President? I watched the news with a likeable Republican President for eight years as a kid. Being Republican does not make one evil, but no leftist Hollywood writer would script one as such.

CBS is very preachy. JAG is a right-wing version of Law and Order, although terrible. Touched by and Angel spreads God all over your television, and Chuck Norris kicks your ass if you really get out of line, Texas-style! CBS knows how to cater to the old and conservative. Why are they the only network to do so?

I am tired of liberal politicians and their underlings! I want to watch a Governor execute a man who may be innocent. I want to watch a President order his National Security Advisor to illegally finance a war in a poor country. I know the people want that too.

That being said, I love Fox and Friends. I love it. I love it! I LOVE IT!!!!!

***

Did anyone watch the Olympics? Neither did I. I love the internet.

***

I will not comment on the ‘Debates.’

***

Cartoon Network has made many great shows in it’s brief history, but none are better than Cow and Chicken. Please watch for it on CartoonCartoon Fridays! Back to back makes it that much funnier.

***

Please watch the new NHL season on ESPN. Always a well called game and a great way to enjoy hockey.
