Note to the Loyal Readers: Why 1993

In last month's issue, I gave you all a couple of Evilrobots.com
programming notes for the year. In this issue I want to give you
all fair warning about the central topic of the coming year: my
past, and how I chose to remember it. I am going to take you on
a walk down my memory lane. Basically, in the coming year you will
read many articles about the year 1993. Yes. I wrote nineteen ninety-three.
It was a very, very good year.
What happened in 1993 that made the year so magical? First of all,
in June of 93 I dressed in drag for the first time. The kids from
90201 AND Saved by the Bell graduated from high school that year.
So did I. Donald Fagan released "Kamakiriad" and I went
off to college. I saw Steely Dan AND James Brown in concert in 1993.
There will be all this and more. Just you wait! I am going to give
you the story of Frank "The Fish", our foreign exchange
student friend, and the adventures of the missing green space helmet!
For reasons I will explain in another article this month, 1993
was a banner year for me. I hope that by the end of the year you
will have a pretty good sense of what it meant and still means to
me.
