2003: Lefty's Year in Review

This has been a really bad year, globally-speaking. Canada has NEVER looked more attractive to me. But, just because GWB is in office, does that mean my year has to suck? No. Here are the highlights of Lefty's year, in no particular order…

Best Concert: The White Stripes… twice.
I still cannot fathom how just two people can have such stage presence as to enthrall a huge arena audience for two hours. They are the best and most honest thing out there. And Jack is hot.

Best TV: Buffy, Season 7
Okay, okay. I'm late. I know. But I had been DYING to see the last season after catching up with the other episodes on FX. Most people hated it, but I thought it was a wonderful closure to a fantastic show. And Spike is hot.

Best TV (2): Survivor: Pearl Islands
Could I have LOVED Rupert any more??? I don't think so. I boycotted the episodes a bit after he got booted, but caught the finale. Could I have HATED Johnny Fairplay (or Johnny Asshole as I call him) any more??? I don't think so. Yay Sandra!

Best Vacation: Driving cross-country
Schlomo and I had a great time with his parents. It was truly mind-blowing. And Albequerque actually has a team called the Isotopes. No joke.

Best Music:
Need I say The White Stripes' "Elephant"? I didn't think so. And if you don't crank the volume and go into spasmodic fits of car dancing every time "Hey Ya" by Outkast comes on, go see a professional.

Best Book I Bought:
The new Boondocks anthology. Comics don't get any better or truer.

Best Hobby I Learned:
Knitting. No… it's not just for grannies anymore. I spent next to nothing on Xmas presents this year because I just made something for people. Kinda like being back in kindergarten, but with less paste-eating.

Best Website (besides Evil Robots)
Fark.com. I have wasted more work hours at that site than any other. From hysterical weird news links to the awesome Photoshop contests, hilarity ensues every day.

Best Movie:
"American Wedding". Hey, I'm a little biased… Well, really "Angels In America". If you haven't seen it… what the fuck are you waiting for????

Well, a short list but hopefully a good one. Have a Merry and a Happy and see ya in '04!
